Family Riches

When you were growing up, what was your family’s financial situation?

Many of my clients were born during the Depression. They were poor. But some had a way of making themselves feel rich.

Debbie explained, "My grandmother would walk down Fifth Avenue to see what was in the windows and then copy those designs. So the family all had such beautiful clothes."

And some didn't even know they were poor!

My father lived in a 3-bedroom flat in Philly with, get this, his: grandparents, aunt, uncle, two cousins and mother. The landfill  below the apartment has since sunk which tells you something.

But ask my father about his upbringing and he'd say, "I didn't know I was poor until I went to a camp for poor kids." In his cramped quarters, all he saw was a house full of love and live-in playmates. One question paints a rich picture.
