Northern Lights & Raspberries

On your next call with a family member, ask:

What's something that you love to do that you got from your parent?

Patty paused as she placed herself outside with her father many decades ago.

"My dad, Isadore (Izzy), appreciated the outdoors and showed me the stars and the aurora borealis, which I still love. Even now, I could live outside and to this day I don’t shut my blinds."

Her dad had a sense of wonder for the extraordinary and the simple.

"My father loved raspberry picking, flowers and having animals.  He planted two trees in front of our house. When I go up to Duluth, I drive by to see them, and today they’re enormous!"

This connection literally keeps on growing! A simple question can go to unexpected, delightful places.

I wonder if I a teenage Patty carved her initials into that tree???
