Time’s in the Fast Lane
What is it about time? It can be snail-paced, like when I was home alone as a kid (how many games of jacks can one 8 year old play?) or as a new parent, when I'd impatiently wait for Michael to walk through the door and rescue me. And yet, when my father was sick, I was desperate to stop time.
Of course, we can't control time. It's what we do with time that matters.
We want our children to be happy and to live to their full potential. We want our parents to be healthy and content. Those are our wishes. But the relationships can languish without our attention.
With time in the fast lane, we've got to take the initiative NOW to make our favorite people feel our love.
Think about your siblings, children and parents. How do you show them that they are front and center to you? Here are some ideas that will take 30 minutes or less of your time. How about:
- writing a card
- picking up the phone
- sending flowers, chocolate, a Farside comic or
- giving the gift of a Family Love Letter!
Whatever small or grand gesture you pick, you'll be making someone very happy. You'll be sending a clear message that as time races on, you are making the effort not to accomplish something, but to express your appreciation for that person.
